Scenario: Computers in a classroom are rebooting for no apparent reason. Multiple computers seem to shut down at the same but random times. The computer all have the same specifications and the same software installed. Although not completely certain, computers tend to shut down when accessing the VSB network or the Internet. A consulting firm (i.e. your group) has been hired to identify and solve the problem.
Tasks: Work in groups of trios (or pairs) and create a Google presentation shared with the teacher and group members. Follow the presentation tips provided by the teacher. Your presentation should include the following:
- State the problem.
- Come up possible causes and sort them in terms of likelihood.
- Find solutions that might solve the problem and sort them in term of your recommended sequence of action. This will depend on a combination of likelihood, time and monetary costs.
- Suggest any preventative measure that the school can take to avoid similar problems in the future.
- Prepare a short 5-10 minute presentation for Thursday’s class. The slides should be in point form, while you and your partner should elaborate on each point.
Deadline: Visual and oral presentation on Thursday, April 18.
